Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has approved the release of N3.8 billion to the Kaduna State Pension Bureau for the immediate disbursement of gratuities, death benefits, and accrued rights under the Contributory Pension Scheme.

The decision was made on compassionate grounds following pleas from pensioners and families of deceased civil servants who lamented the hardship caused by the ongoing pension verification exercise.

Governor Sani clarified that the verification process was introduced to eliminate “ghost” pensioners from the system, aiming to safeguard the state’s limited resources.

However, acknowledging the strain it has placed on genuine pensioners, he directed the immediate commencement of payments to affected individuals.

Reaffirming his commitment to the welfare of retired workers, Governor Sani emphasized the importance of ensuring consistent and timely pension payments.

He described the pensioners as senior citizens who had served Kaduna State with dedication and deserved support in their retirement.

He also assured them of the speedy conclusion of the verification exercise, noting that his administration remains dedicated to improving their quality of life.

The governor expressed gratitude to pensioners for their patience and understanding.

Since taking office in May 2023, Governor Sani’s administration has disbursed a total of N6.6 billion for the payment of gratuities, death benefits, and accrued pension rights in the state.
