England secures extra Champions League spot after Arsenal’s win over Real Madrid

England is now assured of at least five teams in next season’s UEFA Champions League, thanks to Arsenal’s impressive 3–0 first-leg triumph over Real Madrid in the quarter-finals.
This extra slot comes as a result of UEFA’s coefficient ranking system, which rewards countries whose clubs perform best in European competitions.
Currently, England tops the rankings, ahead of other major football nations like Italy, Spain, and Germany.
With Liverpool and Arsenal on track to finish in the top two of the Premier League, the race for the remaining spots remains tight.
Only 12 points separate third-placed Nottingham Forest and 10th-placed Bournemouth, keeping clubs like Chelsea, Newcastle, Manchester City, Aston Villa, Fulham, and Brighton in the hunt for qualification.
There’s also the possibility of England fielding up to seven teams in the 2025–26 Champions League.
This could happen if Aston Villa win the current Champions League season but do not finish in the top four, and if Manchester United or Tottenham lift the Europa League trophy.
