Uromi Killings: Kano Govt sends High-Powered delegation to Edo

In a proactive move to address the recent killings in Uromi Village, Edo State, the Kano State Government has dispatched a high-powered committee led by Deputy Governor Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo on a peace and fact-finding mission.
The delegation, constituted by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, departed Kano on Thursday, following the tragic incident in Uromi which occurred last month and left several people dead while displacing many residents, including Kano indigenes living in the area.
According to a statement from the Chief Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, Ibrahim Garba Shu’aibu, the committee is tasked with investigating the root causes of the violence and engaging stakeholders to promote peace and reconciliation.
Among the delegation are notable figures such as the Emir of Rano, Ambassador Mohammad Isa Umar; Commissioners for Religious Affairs, Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Special Duties, and Women Affairs; the Chairman of Bunkure Local Government Area, as well as other top officials.
Speaking at Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport before departure, Deputy Governor Gwarzo emphasized the mission’s dual purpose of fact-finding and peace-building.
“Our mandate is clear – to investigate, to consult, and to recommend sustainable solutions.”
“This is not just a fact-finding mission, but a peace-building initiative aimed at restoring confidence and preventing further violence,” he stated.
During their week-long visit, the committee will hold meetings with Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki, heads of security agencies, traditional rulers, and civil society organizations.
