The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has fined Shooting Stars of Ibadan five million naira following a violent incident involving their supporters during a Matchday 32 clash against Ikorodu City.

According to reports, fans of the home team held Ikorodu City players hostage and vandalised their team bus after the match, actions which triggered disciplinary measures from the league authorities.

As part of the punishment, supporters of Shooting Stars have been barred from attending the club’s home fixtures at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan.

The club was found guilty on three major counts: failure to provide adequate security, inability to control fans which resulted in the attack on the visiting team, and the throwing of objects onto the pitch.

Shooting Stars have been given 48 hours to either accept the sanctions or file an appeal.
